March 4, 2017 at the Crooked River Farm
What a beautiful, spring day in Hiltons, VA!
We were greeted by either a ride on a golf cart
or a lovely walk to the cathedral-like venue.
Everyone was so happy to be in this lovely setting and to see one another again.
Hostess, Mary C, collected our contributions for lunch and for the young musicians we would hear later.
We enjoyed Linda S's "Thought for the Day" about the power of hope.
Our president, Sara E, called the meeting to order.
Judy Y, treasurer, presented her report and correspondence,
while Gail G (pink, in background), provided the minutes from the February meeting.
Lois Q brought a guest, who was welcomed by everyone.
Please consider bringing a guest to the May meeting!

Of course, on such a fine day, we took a group photo.
The mountains were a perfect background!

We were in for a treat! The Junior Appalachian Musicians--specifically the Scott County String Band--gave a concert of Appalachian music. This program invites young people from the 3rd through the 8th grade to learn to play music rooted in Appalachia.
Time to have lunch and fellowship.
The owner of Crooked River Farm told us the history of the building where we met. It was built in the 1800s, and was brought from Ohio to this Hiltons, VA, location in recent years. There are many impressive features in the building, not the least of which are the massive entry doors.
