In October, Alpha Zeta met at the beautiful Bristol Public Library.
Janice Rowland blessed us with our "Thought for the Day", a poignant prayer for all children--both those with ordinary lives and those who live daily with strife and need. The prayer was written by Ina J. Hughes. ("We pray for Children," 1995, William Morrow publishers)
Bryan Pfeifer, Commonwealth Uniserv Director, led the program.
*He talked about the VEA's 2016 Legislative agenda.
*He encouraged Alpha Zeta to attend the October 10 rally to support the funding of public education in Giles County.
* Other issues included stopping the potential outsourcing of the Roanoke City schools' food services and supporting a statewide insurance option for local school divisions.

Tracy Mercier (above, with Bryan Pfeifer), and Melissa Warren (left), are co-presidents of the Bristol VA Education Association. They assisted in the presentation and in the Q and A that followed.
