Our two presidents worked tirelessly, along with the other Southwest Coordinating members, to create an informative, enjoyable gathering.

There was a flurry of preparation and happy friends greeting one another, as the meeting time approached.
Chi member of the SWCC, J. Groseclose, presented our "Thought for the Day." In keeping with the avian theme, she talked about seeing storms as opportunities to soar and see the bigger picture, much like the eagle does.
Alpha Zeta president, Cynthia B., introduced our program, John James Audubon: America's Naturalist, presented by Chi president, Cindy K.
John James Audubon: America's Naturalist
Cindy started out with Audubon's background, life, and struggles with lack of success in his working life. She talked about the places he lived, such as Haiti, France, and several places in the US. Audubon, while uninterested in working a regular job, was enamored with nature--especially with birds. He decided to paint every bird in North America.
Cindy explained that Audubon would study the birds' habitats, behaviors, and various colors during their lifetimes. He would pose his dead specimens so as to make them appear as lifelike as possible. Interestingly, too, he would fill the backgrounds of his paintings with other examples of the bird and the surrounding habitat.
As this excellent presentation came to a close, Cindy invited all of us to come up, don gloves, and go through her valuable editions of bird prints--some from Audubon. What a delightful, informative presentation!! Love the boa!
Lunchtime: Thanks to our friends at ladybug Café and Cakery for this delicious catered lunch!
Honoring Our Own: Chi had honored their members last year. Alpha Zeta honored two of ours, today.
Following the Delta Kappa Gamma Collect, the meeting was adjourned.
