Alpha Zeta met at one of our favorite places--The Family Bakery in Gate City, VA.
Our hostesses were Debbie M. (left) and Ruby R. (far right).
Linda S gave the Thought for the Day, and Judy Y presented the treasurer's report.
President Kathy M. gave a report on the Fall Board meeting and discussed new business such as Lobby Day in January and new member induction in May. (Contact Maureen M. or Linda B. for invitation information.)
Our program: The Ballad Health Cancer Center of Bristol
We heard all about its mission, needs, and volunteer opportunities from our special guest, Laura L.
Laura informed us that the center provides cancer patients with $500 for extra bills and services. There are fund raisers throughout the year to provide this money for their patients. She spoke of the urgent need for volunteers who can provide a listening ear and comfort to those receiving treatments.
Our project: donations of small snack-sized items such as applesauce, snack cakes, crackers, cookies, peanuts, juice, trail mix, goldfish, etc., for the cancer center.
Our Alpha Zeta sisters were very interested in what Laura had to say. What a worthy cause!

After the business meeting, there was a little time to socialize before our always delicious lunch!
See you on February 1, 2020 at Pleasant View UMC in Abingdon, VA. We'll have various types of soups and a program about leadership.
Many thanks to Maureen M for the beautiful photos!
