Everyone arrived a little damp from the weather, but very happy to see each other! Look at those smiling hostesses!
President Cynthia B calls the meeting to order.
Thought for the Day....Kathy M reads an essay by her mother, Lucille, who was known by her best friends as "Lucy Locket."
Lucille certainly knew the value and special qualities of the Southwest Virginia region and its people. Her daughter exemplies the best of our region!
Correspondance...Jo S reads our letters.
Old Business...Cynthia B talked about the successful leadership conference in March. One of our new inductees, Dr. Sandy F, presented a wonderful workshop!
Alpha Zeta won the cherished Gold Key Chapter award! Way to go, Cynthia!
Also, the recipient for our Marion B. Stafford Scholarship was announced. Sara Arnold, a student at UVA-Wise, and a Scott County native, will be receiving the $1,000 to help her in her studies to become an educator.

New Business...
1. The Emory & Henry Meet and Greet. According to Teresa H and Kathy M, the college students they met at the "Meet and Greet" were quite enthusiastic about Delta Kappa Gamma. We may have our first collegiate members in the near future!
2. VA Scholars Award...Carol P presented Alpha Zeta's VA Scholar's award at Emory & Henry to Macey Clark, a graduating education student. Macey will be teaching 8th grade Science at Wallace Middle School next year. While student teaching, Macey actually completed a semester of 1st grade teaching when a teacher suddenly left in the middle of the school year. Sounds like she has what it takes to be an excellent educator!
3. The Scholarship Basket Raffle! Our theme was "Blue Skies." There were lots of winners of baskets and the beautiful vases of flowers on each table. What fun! We collected $168 for our annual scholarship.
Induction Ceremony for New Members...We inducted SEVEN new members, but two could not be present. What a joy to have so many new key women educators join us!
