Cindy Brewer's story of "The Parable of the Pencil" explained how much we are like pencils. We must allow ourselves to be guided, we'll be sharpened from time to time, we can erase our mistakes, what's on the inside is what counts, and it's important always to leave our mark on those we touch.
Veita Lyle, on the board of the Children's Advocacy Center, talked to us about the mission and goals of the CAC. She spoke eloquently and passionately about the CAC, giving personal stories of the great things the center does, the ever-growing number of children who are referred every year, statistics on the conviction rate, and ways we can help.

Here are some photos of our Alpha Zeta sisters, visiting with one another and enjoying our delicious lunch. We dined on sweet potato soup, grilled chicken salad with dates and pine nuts, and an apple turnover with cinnamon whipped cream. Délicieux!
Carol Sims brought along a guest, and potential transfer member, a retired educator. Dee has taught in many different settings, including public school and various universities.
